Inovasi Rumah Sakit Royal Progress: BPJS TK Gratis untuk Ribuan Pekerja Lepas di Jakarta Utara
Prikasa.com – Royal Progress Hospital announces the launch of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by providing free BPJS Employment (BPJS-TK) contributions for six months to 1,700 freelance workers in North Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
The program aims to provide protection for workers against the risks of work accidents and other social security for vulnerable workers in the informal sector.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2023, the number of freelance workers in Indonesia reached 33.5 million people or about 27% of the total workforce. However, with the growth of informal workers, challenges related to social protection for freelance workers have become increasingly pressing. Most freelance workers do not have health insurance and work accident protection. This situation puts them at high risk in carrying out their work.
Work accidents in the country are also very high. BPJS Employment data in 2023 shows that there have been more than 370,747 cases of work accidents in Indonesia and about 5.37% occurred in freelance workers. The majority of victims are workers in the informal sector or freelance workers in the construction, transportation, and delivery sectors. In addition to physical risks, freelance workers also face high financial uncertainty when they experience work accidents, as they do not have social security and insurance.
Realizing the importance of this issue, Royal Progress Hospital is taking proactive steps by launching a CSR program that provides free BPJS Employment contributions for six months to 1,700 freelance workers in North Jakarta and its surrounding areas. This program includes work accident insurance, old-age insurance, and death insurance, which are part of BPJS-TK services. Thus, freelance workers registered in this program will receive the same protection as formal workers, including medical treatment costs and compensation in case of work accidents.
Director of Royal Progress Hospital, dr. Ivan R Setiadarma, MM, said that through this program, it is hoped that freelance workers will receive recognition for their contributions and also receive protection while working.
“Freelance workers are the backbone of the economy, but their existence is often overlooked in terms of social protection. Through this program, we want to ensure that they not only receive recognition for their contributions, but also receive proper protection when facing work risks,” said dr. Ivan R Setiadarma.
In carrying out this commitment, Royal Progress Hospital has received full support from BPJS Employment. Mrs. Dessy Sriningsih, as the Head of the Mangga Dua Branch of BPJS Employment, gave a positive response to the assistance provided in providing protection for freelance workers.
“We highly appreciate the concern of Royal Progress Hospital in helping to realize the SERTAKAN program for workers. As a hospital with complete facilities, Royal Progress Hospital can help handle various actions thoroughly and comprehensively,” said Dessy.
Freelance workers play an important role in supporting various economic sectors, so it is crucial to maintain their quality of life and ensure that their healthcare needs are met. “We sincerely hope that with this program, all layers of workers in Indonesia will have access to and receive proper healthcare services, especially in emergency situations,” said dr. Ivan.
